Will of Jethro Gardner, Vassalboro, 1814
"I being of sound mind.....my body be Decently Buried according to
directions of my executor..... my just and lawful debts be paid from
my personal estate..... I hereby give and bequeath to my son William
Gardner my clock and bible after the decease of my wife Love Gardner
and not until then to be receive by him..... to my daughters Eunice,
Elizabeth, Cristina, Abigail, Leidia all my household furniture to be
divided equally among them after the decease of my wife Love
Gardner.....except for my looking glass which my son William shall
have privilege of purchasing from my daughters.....my sons William
Gardner and Joel Gardner of Vassalboro, yeoman, to be my executors."
The Commissioners appointed by the Court were Benjamin Brown Jr.,
Isaac Robbins, Gentlemen and the "Will" was to be published in the
"Herald Liberty", printed in Augusta. A long list of "notes due"
totaled $584.12 and the looking glass was appraised at $6.
