It is with the feeling of deepest regret that we chronicle in the column of this newspaper the news of the death of one of our communities former young businessman, namely George B Brandt of Chisago City, who, in the prime of his life, died at the City Hospital in St. Paul last Sunday afternoon.

George Bernhard Brandt was born on a farm about 3 miles from Lindstrom on June 18, 1882 and at the time of his death had not quite attained the age of 28 years. Mr. Brandt spent his youth on the farm and in 1900 he entered the employ of Lindstrom and Akerson in this village. He served them for 5 years in the capacity of tinsmith and bicycle expert, but in 1905, when he was granted a patent on a new style of potato sprayer, he left them to take up manufacturing this sprayer at Chisago City, where he and his brother Henry had organized the Brandt Brothers Manufacturing Co.

Their business thrived and about 6 mo ago he and his brother sold their holdings to a firm in Hastings and retired to private life, Mr. Brandt then decided to get business education and he accordingly entered Globe Business College in St. Paul where he was a student at the time of his death.

About a week or so ago he became violently ill and when he was examined at the City Hospital it was found that he was suffering from an acute attack of Theroco Spinal Menangitis. Little hope was entertained for his recovery and on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 he passed peacefully n the Great Beyond.

Mr. Brandt is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Brandt, 3 bothers, Henry, William and Herman and 5 sisters, Alida, Josephine, Ruth, Mrs. Gust Anderson and Mrs. Clarence Bloom.

The funeral was held his afternoon from the Methodist Church at 2 pm. Interment took place in the Methodist Cemetery near Center City.

The news of Mr. Brandt’s death came as a great shock to his many friends in this vicinity and on all sides are heard murmurs of sorrow and regret, that so promising a career should be cut off in the prime of life and expressions of sympathy for his grief stricken relatives and are generously and sincerely extended. We too desire to express to Mr. Brandt’s sorrowing kinsmen and kinswomen our heart felt sympathy, with the feeling that the death of so model a young Christian further emphasizes the truth of “Oh Death! Where is thy sting Oh, Grave! Where is thy victory
