He was born in Fort Polk Louisiana, to Callen & Leona Burris, he was raised mostly in the southeast corner of the state of Oklahoma, but did live in Pawnee for a little while, due to his dad being a Indian Methodist preacher.
He was the middle child of seven born to these parents, and he was the blacksheep, so to say.
He loved the indian culture, because his dad was full-blooded Chickasaw, his Mother was more Irish.
He married at age 25 and his wife had their first child when Chris was 26 and his second child when Chris was 28.
He worked numerous jobs as store clerk and handy man before he became ill with lung disease.
His illness never stopped him from making people laugh,
he could put the whole room into tears of laughter with his jokes, and impressions. His children were ages 8 1/2 and 7 years old when he died. He loved God and his family more than anything, and he tried hard to provide, even though he was sick for the previous five years before his death.
He could sing the 23rd psalms in the Chickasaw language, and it was sang by three women at his funeral.
He could imitate the sounds of animals and his father in law use to say that nobody ever needed animals with Chris around, because he could imitate them so well.
He loved to fish, camp, swim, and he was also a very good amature artist.
He stood 6 foot 4 & 1/2 in. tall, so he was a very tall person, at least up next to the people he knew.
