He was born on May 21, 1931 in St Paul to Nordeen and Anna Ruth (Dyer) Nelson.

He was a Korean War Veteran and member of the Masonic Lodge in Mora.

He was preceded in death by parents, Nordeen and Anna Ruth; brother, Roland; sister, Peggy; brother-in-law, Bill Nyman; grandson, Andy; and granddaughter, Amy Lynn.

He is survived by wife, Sylvia, sons, Alan (sue) and Bryan (Angel), daughter; Lynn (Dan), brothers, Floyd (Teri) and Jack (Gail) sister, Ronnie (Ralph), sister-in-law, Lois, five grandchildren; two great grandchildren, dear friends, Phyllis, and Earl Morelli; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at Methven-Taylor, New Brighton Funeral Home with Rev Douglas Larson officiating.

Pallbearers were Bjorn Nelson, Nick Schneider, Scott Nelson, Paul Nyman, Jewel Copland, Steve Nelson, Jim Behrens, Keith Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers were Jack Nelson, Ralph Sletten and Charles Parks.

Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery
