Mrs. Hughes was born May 1, 1925, in Manning, a daughter of Ervin Griffin and Marie Wells Griffin. She attended Manning schools and Sauldam Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Eddie H. Hughes III of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Phyllis H. Robbins of Port Orange, Fla.; seven sisters, Evelyn Senn, Joyce Scott, Virginia Ardis, Kensy Avin, and Lynn Watkins, all of Summerton, Jean Bell of Santee and Mary Silver of Charleston; and three grandchildren.
