Irvin lived a hard life his mother Sylvia Simonson died in a fire trying to rescue kittens, Irvin was only 6 months old. His siblings were dispersed to family. He was born and raised in Broken Bow Nebraska. Irvin left school around the 6th grade to work in the fields. Later he married Mary Helen Williams of Kearney Nebraska. They were both working for the WPA and programs like it. There were restrictions that two working for the same program could not marry they found a judge to marry them in a neighboring town. The judge somehow hid their certificate so they would not get into trouble. He went into the Army and served in WWII driving tanks in Germany. Later moved to Washington State and made their home. He worked for Kelly Oil Company for awhile.

Grand Dad was quiet he worked hard all his life. He was a good man who loved his family very much. We miss him greatly.
