Jason was born to Leland Stanford Briggs and Mary Athalia Woodston Briggs. Here is a short excerpt from the proud grandmother, Fay Anderson Briggs, taken from the John Sampson Hacking Family Bulletin #8-1971 page 26 (family news section): "They are now in Provo, and he is practicing with the Central Utah Medical Clinic as a cardiologist. Since moving to Provo, on the 9th of December [1970] they were blessed with another little son, Shawn Sidney. He is such a precious little fellow. Now we have five wonderful grandchildren--three beautiful talented girls, Lezlie 13, Michelle 11, Rebecca, who will soon be eight; and our adorable two little grandsons, Jason Stanford 5 and Shawn 7 months. They are all so busy with church and summer activities, swimming, dancing, music lessons and tennis. We surely love them and are so proud of them."

Jason, his brother Shawn, and mother Mary died on the same day in an automomile accident in Spanish Fork Canyon, and their father died a short time later.
