His obituary in the Bennington Banner, October 23, 1963 states: Edward L. Bent, 74, veteran and lifelong resident of Burgess Road, died this morning at Putnam Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for two or three months. Born in Bennington, September 2, 1889, his parents were Charles and Nancy (Camp) Bent.
He had attended local schools. A printer by trade he had been employed at Ben-Mont until his retirement in 1954. He was an overseas veteran, serving with the 20th Field Artillery. He was fond of sports and was an avid deer hunter at one time.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. William DeForge Sr., and a nephew, Charles Quackenbush both of Bennington, another nephew James Quackenbush of Troy, New York. Cousins, other nieces and nephews are also left.
The funeral will be at 2 PM Friday at Hanson Walbridge Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin R. McGoughey, First Methodist Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery.
