He was born Jan. 15, 1917, to William Andy and Margaret (Pierce) Davis at Franklin, Ark. The family moved to Wellston, Okla. in 1930, and then, in 1936, to La Habra, Calif., where he worked for General Motors.
He married Violet Goggin on May 14, 1938, at Whittier, Calif. They moved to Wellston, Okla. and Mr. Davis worked at Douglas Aircraft Co. in Oklahoma City during World War II. The family returned to La Habra in 1948 and Mr. Wellston worked for Superior Tank Co. He then worked for North America Rockwell Co. in Downey as a welder and supervisor in aerospace for 30 years. He retired in 1979 and the family moved to Brewster where Mr. Davis and his son were partners in an apple orchard on Brewster Flats. He also raised Arabian horses. They sold the orchard in 1989 and moved to Omak. He was a longtime active member of the Missionary Baptist church and a member and deacon of the Douglas Street Missionary Baptist Church in Omak. His father and stepfather were both Missionary Baptist ministers.
He is survived by his wife, at home; a son, James of Omak; two sisters, Gladys Goggin of Wellston, Okla. and June Ross of Brewster; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
