Services for Laura Elizabeth Holbrook, 94, will be Monday, July 28, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Harvey-Douglas Chapel with the Reverend Jimmy Holbrook officiating. Interment will follow at McAlister Cemetery.


The daughter of the late James Madison and Edna Laura Willet McCullers, Laura was born July 15, 1914, in Cleburne, Texas, and passed away July 25, 2008, in a local health care facility.


A resident of this area for most of her life, she and John Kendall Holbrook were married Oct. 21, 1931, in Marietta. He preceded her death on Oct. 25, 1991. Five brothers and sisters and two grandchildren also preceded her.


Laura worked for Plainview School as a cafeteria cook for 15 years. She was a member of Eastman Baptist Church and attended Marsden Baptist Church.


She is survived by two sons, Kendall Lloyd Holbrook and his wife, Rosa, of Tulsa, and Dean Holbrook and wife, Carleen, of Tuttle; seven daughters, Ramona West and husband, Bill, of Lone Grove, Zedda Lea Caldwell and husband, Dan, of Wilson; Phyllis Ingram and husband, James, of Marietta, Sarah Murphy and husband, Asa, of Marietta, Joan Riotte and husband, Eugene, of Ardmore, Jimmie McDonald, of Arlington, Texas, and Johnnie Preston, of Overbrook; a nephew, David McCullers and his wife, Betty, of Ardmore; 30 grandchildren; 50-plus great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.


Serving as bearers will be her grandsons.
