Perry was born in Boston, before the Harris Family moved to the Thomaston area in Georgia.
His mother died in 1965 and Perry was living with his older sister and her family, when he traveled to Atlanta and enlisted in the Marines 20 April 1966, at a recruiting office in Atlanta, Georgia.
Upon arriving in Vietnam, Perry was assigned to the 3rd Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Bravo Company was on a patrol and engaged hostile forces 6 kilometers west northwest of Dien Ban. Perry died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest from hostile rifle fire.
Tour of duty unknown.
Survived by his sister, Barbara A Atwater, Apt #4, Holsey Street, Thomaston, Georgia, and his half-brother; George Copeland of 101 Dav Street, Thomaston, Georgia and his father; Joashue Harris of Stone Mountain, Georgia.
His mother; Estella Copeland was deceased.
