Three Deaths In One Home
Death has again come among us and removed one of our best neighbors - Mr. C. H. Harvey. Hez, as he was commonly called, was born August 16th, 1882, died February 5th, 1919, aged 36 years, 5 months and 19 days. Was married to Miss Dona Adams March 21, 1909, and to this union was born five children; two of whom soon followed him to the glory world. He was a good christian man. The writer had the pleasure of hearing him tell his experience, but was always ready to love up the the Golden Rule .. His motto seemed to be, "Do unto others as you." He never spoke against his neighbor in any way. Was good to his family - a truer husband could not be found. Hez, knowing the fact that Jesus said that He became poor that we might be made rich, accepted Christ in early life, and joined the M. E. church, south, at Soul's Chapel at about the age of 18 and remained a member un til his death. Hez did not take an active part in church work as did some others but t he secret of his heart was to worship God. He often expressed himself as enjoying good singing, and among his favorite songs were: "Every Day and Every Hour" and "Mother Tell Me of The Angels." Dona, weep not as those who have no hope, but remember the Lord and He "encampeth around about them that fear him." Press forward training your three little ones who remain with you to the Lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world. Jesus says: "Let not your hearts be troubled, believe in God believe also in me for in my Father's house are many mansions." Tollave [Tolliver] was born December 29th, 1917, died February 19th, 1919, aged 1 year, one months and 18 days. Bessie Harvey was born June 18th, 1914, died February 16th, 1919, aged 4 years, 6 months and 28 days. While mother's heart is grieved about the death of her husband, it was the Lord's will to take these little children to their heavenly home. It seems too hard to part with one so near and dear, but not our will but thy will be done. "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord . The deaths were due to influenza and meningitis. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. E. Herring. The remains were laid to rest in Mt. Moriah cemetery to await the resurrection morning. Written by Jesse M. Burns, and wife.
