Miami Soldier, Cpl. D. Hargrove, Is Killed In Italy
While administering first-aid to wounded comrades on the field of battle, Cpl. Denton Hargrove, 26-year old Miamian, was killed in action somewhere in Italy, it has been officially reported.
In a telegram Sunday to the soldier's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hargrove, 217 G street southeast, the secretary of war stated their son lost his life on Nov. 8.
The Miami hero had been overseas since last May and participated in the Sicilian campaign and the hard-fought invasion of Saleron. Corporal Hargrove was a member of the famed Oklahoma division that made recent military history in Italy.
He enlisted in the medical detachment of the Army on Jan. 8, 1940, and received his basic and advanced training in several Army camps before going overseas.
