Death of Mrs. Henry Bell
The community was shocked and grieved to hear last week of the death of Mrs. Henry Bell which occurred at Bishop April 27th, 1911. Mrs. Bell was born at Camp Independence 36 years ago. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Vagt, being among the early pioneers of this valley. After her marriage to Mr. Bell about 15 years ago, they lived in Big Pine a number of years, then moved to Bishop where they have resided since. During her short life she has made many friends in this valley and which was proved by the large attendance at her funeral, where a friend was heard to remark that it was one of the largest and saddest funerals ever seen in Inyo county Indeed, sad to see a woman in the very prime of life taken away from husband, children and friends. Besides a husband, sister and brother, she leaves three children, the youngest being only two years old. She was laid to rest in the Big Pine cemetery, and beside three of her children who died several years ago. The sympathy of all goes out to these relatives to whom she was so dear. May she rest in peace.
