Thomas was the son of Lt. John Giddings & Sarah Alcock.
He moved from Chebacco Parish to Gloucester where he bought a house from Benjamin Lufkin in 1710, which he sold 22 May 1721; he then moved with his family to Lyme, Connecticut in 1722/23 where he bought several tracts of land and settled near Beaver Brook.

Thomas was named tythingman for the North Society. He was a town officer in Lyme, Connecticut and a surveyor. Thomas was said to have been a "mercer/taylor". In his will he leaves his "waring apparill" to his sons and their heirs. He died in his 71st year.

He married Sarah Andrews,(daughter of Joseph Andrews and Sarah Ring) on June 1, 1706 in Ipswich, Massachusetts and had 6 children:
