Robert W. Featherston
Robert W. Featherston, 67, of Winslow, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. He courageously fought pulmonary fibrosis and congestive heart failure for two years.
He was born Jan. 20, 1941, in Beech Grove, to Robert W. and Lourne (Hurt) Featherston. Robert was a graduate of Southport High School. On June 24, 1961, in Indianapolis, he was united in marriage to Barbara Bolton.
Robert was a carpenter for 50 years. He belonged to Christian General Baptist Church and Carpenters Union Local 758. Robert was an outdoorsman, avid fisherman and mushroom hunter. He enjoyed making cabinets and working with wood. He was known to many as Mr. Monday.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Featherston of Winslow; three sons, Gary W. Featherston of Franklin, David S. Featherston of Indianapolis and Bobby Featherston of Granton, Wis.; two daughters, Kellie J. Blume of Jasper and DeeAnna J. Morton of Winslow; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Richard Featherston of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Featherston.
The Rev. Revis Eastham will officiate a funeral service at 10 a.m. today at Christian General Baptist Church on Union Street in Winslow. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until service time today at the church. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Winslow. Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow is handling arrangements.
