Francis Eugene Jorgensen, 60, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (May 11, 2004) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after battling cancer and Parkinson's disease.
He was born Aug. 13, 1943, to Lars Alfred and Mable Luceal (Foster) Jorgensen in Sidney. He attended school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, graduating in 1961. He attended college at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in January 1966.
On Aug. 14, 1965, he married Betty of Fairbury. He also attended graduate school at Kearney State College and received his masters degree in August 1971.
He taught one semester of school in Duncan before he and his wife moved to Cambridge to teach in August 1966. He taught agriculture for 32 years in Cambridge. He also taught chemistry, some math classes and was a wrestling coach at various levels for 30 years. He retired from coaching in May 1996 and from teaching in June 1998 for health reasons.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Edith Foster and Chris and Katie Jorgensen; his parents, Alfred and Mable Jorgensen; and one niece, Susan Jorgensen.
Services are Friday, 2:30 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. Interment will be in Cambridge (Fairview) Cemetery.
