CLOSE, JAMES L., 84, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Treyton Oak Towers. Born March 16, 1924, in Louisville, he was a US Navy Armed Guard World War II veteran, a graduate American Mortuary school funeral director, and an embalmer. He was the owner of Millerand Close Funeral Home, a trade embalmer for many funeral homes, a member of the Progress Masonic Lodge #932, past patron of the Victory Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #447, and a life lifelong member of Farmdale Baptist Church, where he was a former chairman of Deacons. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Norma Jean Mudd; son, James "Jay" L.CloseII (Darlene); daughter, Sherry Deatrick(Kirby); grandchildren, Chris Deatrick, Dawn Ousley(Derrick), and Gabe Close; and great-grandchild, Walker Ousley. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.

Tuesday at Farmdale Baptist Church,1238 Durrett Lane, with burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery. The visit will be 3-8 p.m.Monday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home 3331 Taylorsville Road and 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Farmdale Baptist Church Mission Fund.
