Byron was born to Delbert and Martha Clemons Walker.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Martha "Marti" (Don) Brooks; children, Daniel Skaggs, Brandon (Amanda) Walker and Amy Walker; brothers, Dennis Walker, Tony (Allison) Walker and Steve (Kelly) Walker; sisters, Kimberly Braman and Crystal (Rob) Gama-Stidham Prahal; and his three grandchildren.

His father preceded him in death.

Byron attended East Peoria Community High School and served in the Army.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.
