This memorial is for my wonderful Uncle, who I will never forget!
My uncle, Randy Scott Standley was born on November 29,1960 in Vidor, Texas. He was the last child of Marion Ethridge Standley and Audrey Muriel Williamson. He was the best son, brother, husband, father and uncle you could ever have had. Uncle Randy also suffered from Chrohn's disease since his early twenties.
When he was eighteen, on June 9,1979 he married Gloria Vasquez in Houston, Tx. Gloria was born on December 6,1962 in Karnes County,Tx. and passed away in July of 2006. She was the daughter of Faustino Vasquez and Ysidra Castanada.
Together the had three children, Lisa Marie was born on Febuary 24,1980 in Houston, Tx., Audrey Renee was born on January 12,1982 in Houston, Tx., and Randy Neil "Bubba" was born on November 30,1984 in Houston, Tx.
In 1995, when he was thirty-five, he hurt his back while on the job and was scheduled to have surgery on it at Methodist hospital. But for some reason I had this horrible feeling something was going to go wrong, so I begged him not to go through with it. The surgery itself went fine, but the doctor and nurses didn't stitch his wound correctly, and when he was in recovery all of his spinal fluid leaked out, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
Uncle Randy passed away on May 8,2003 at his home in Trinity, Tx. from heart failure, he was only 42 years old.
He is survived by his three children, Lisa, Audrey and Randy Standley. His mother, Audrey Standley. Two sisters, Kathy Nichols and Karen Brzowski. Four brothers, Lane and Larry Standley and Edward and Auberly Thompson. Four grandchildren. And many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Since his death he has had three more grandbabies, two little girls by both of his daughter's Lisa and Audrey and one little boy by his son, Randy.
He's laid to rest by his father, Marion and many other relatives at Holly Cemetery.
