LAKELAND -- Mr. Leon Truitt Crisp Sr. of Lakeland died of lung failure Sunday (March 12, 2006) in Orlando. He was a 83.

Born in Repton, Ky., on Feb. 13, 1923, he came to Lakeland from Merritt Island. He owned and operated a restaurant and motel in Lake Delton, Wis. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce in Lake Delton. He was a member of Power Squadron in Winter Haven. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Mr. Crisp was preceded in death by his wife, Tess Crisp. He is survived by his son, Leon Truitt Crisp II, Lakeland; daughters, Michele Arnold, Louisville, Ky., and Beverly Crisp, Lakeland; sisters, Susan Sannicandro, Merritt Island, and Ellen Hamor, Winter Haven; former wife, Barbara Noel; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Westside Baptist Church. Services will follow at 4 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Haines City.
