Lewis was born in Kentucky the son of Fielding "Uncle Pea" Wireman and Sally Sizemore and the grandson of John and Rebecca (Carpenter) Wireman and George "Goldenhawk" and Sallie (Anderson) Sizemore. He married Viney Oliver the daughter of James "Jim" Oliver and Polly Shepherd. Their children are; Harriet (Wireman) Arnett, Liney (Wireman) Hale, Loney (Wireman) Lovely, Kennie Wiremab, Warnie Wireman-died young, Elizabeth (Wireman) Wireman, Curtis Wireman-died young, Sallie (Wireman) Hale, Homer Wireman, Pollie Wireman-died young, Edna (Wireman) Hale, Wealtha (Wireman) Bowman Montgomery, Ollie James Wireman, Willard Wireman and Granville Wireman.
