Glenn was the third of eight children born to Linden Karr and Rebecca Jane (Stewart) Houston. He married Laura Jane Travis and they had ten children: Coyte Eugene, Ruth Virginia, James Ralph, Ben Franklin, Lois Esther, Evelyn June, Martha Ann, Ray Davis, Shelby Jane and Glenn Wayne.
