Earl T. Hawkins, 86 of rural Roodhouse passed away late Tuesday night at the home of his daughter in Springfield. He was born November 3, 1921 in Manchester the son of Carey D. and Jessie Cardwell Hawkins. He married Dorothy L. Blair December 2, 1939 and she survives at home.

Also surviving are 2 daughters Mary Ruth (husband Lisle) Spradlin of Jacksonville, Janet E. (husband Earl) Braden of Springfield, a son Robert E. (wife Judy) of Jacksonville, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. A brother Paul Hawkins of rural Roodhouse and 2 sisters Martha Lou Chaney of Winchester and Vivian Hall of Boulder City, NV also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother Ross (surviving wife Lela Hawkins of Orion, IL) and a sister Virginia Bratch.

Mr. Hawkins attended Manchester schools. He sold Ford cars for 45 years for dealers in Jacksonville, Greenfield, Carrollton, and Pittsfield. He was a very active and faithful member of East Union Baptist Church, and farmed for many years. He served in the US Army during WW 2 as a medium tank driver.

Services were entrusted to Coonrod Funeral Home of Winchester, Illinois.
