Melville Fath Sr.
WESTVILLE – Mr. Melville C. Fath Sr., 96, of Westville, and formerly of Schererville, Ind., died Sunday, May 18, 2003, in Michigan City.
He was born Oct. 6, 1906, in Fillmore, Ill., to Eugene and Matilda (Kaburick) Fath.
Mr. Fath was owner and operator of Fath's Feed Store in Schererville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Otis, Westville Lions Club, Holiday Rambler Travel Club and a charter member of the Schererville Lions Club.
On June 10, 1931, in Whiting, Ind., he married Mary A. Haviley, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Melville C. Jr., of Westville, Robert A. of Wisconsin, Richard E. of Schererville and Kenneth E. of LaPorte; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herschel and Maynard.
A funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Otis with Rev. Joseph Pusateri officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Newhard Funeral Home with the Westville Lions Club conducting a memorial service at 7 p.m. and a wake service conducted at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Otis.
