OBITUARY
Died - At his home 3 miles east of
this city Friday June 4th, 1897, at 11
o'clock P.M. of paralysis. I.M. Keener
age 65 years.
The deceased was one of the first set-
tlers in Lightening Creek valley,
having located here before the war.
He was an honest hard working man
who, like most pioneers, lived hard
and died poor; he commanded the re-
spect of his neighbors. He has been
in failing health for two years past and
his death was not unexpected. The
funeral services were held in the
Christian Church, Saturday, June 6th
at 3 o'clock p.m. Rev. Leonard officia-
ting; the remains were laid to rest in
the McCune cemetery: a large number
of friends following the remains to
their last resting place. He leaves an
aged wife and a large family of grown
children to mourn his departure to
that land from whence no traveler
returns.
