Born February 10, 1932 in Sabine, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Franklin Day (1899-1966) & Bonnie Wyatt-Day (1898-1986). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hiram M. Acord (1927-2002) whom she married on December 17, 1949 in Glen Fork, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1949, Page 223, Application Date: December 14, 1949); a daughter, Connie "Jeanette" Acord-Fish-Laxton (1958-2018); two grandsons, Ronnie Lafferty (Deceased) and Chucky Simon (Deceased); three brothers, Verner Vance Day (1919-2008), Rev. Elmer Day (1922-Deceased), and Rev. Robert Day (1927-Deceased); two sisters, Pauline Day-Bailey (1924-2007), Blanche Day-Powers (1924-2004); a son-in-law, Ronald "Ronnie" Donald Lafferty (1950-2012).
Daphine enjoyed spending time with and cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren. She was member of Russell Missionary Baptist Church and attended Bellemeade Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carol Acord-Lafferty of Glen Fork; grandchildren, Chris Brooks & wife Kim Brooks of Glen Fork, Alan Brooks & wife Angie Brooks of Glen Fork, Stephen Brooks of Glen Fork, Michael Laxton & wife Christy Laxton of Pineville, Matthew Laxton & wife Dana Laxton of Welch, Thomas Laxton and companion Kristie Dorado of Brier Creek, David Laxton & wife Leanne Laxton of Rockview, and Angie Simon of Myrtle Beach, SC; twenty- two great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Evans-Calfee Funeral Service, followed by her Funeral Service at 2:00 PM with burial with her husband at Palm Memorial Gardens in Matheny, WV.
