The son of Herbert W. and Iva M. (Devena) Scott. Herbert died when Jack was very young and his step-father William Chedister provided for his care. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended area schools. Jack was a veteran of the United States Army.
In 1955 he married Sofie Hornung in Frankfurt, Germany; she survives at the home.
Jack worked as a mechanic and farmer most all his life and locally for O'Malley Farms in Weir, KS. Jack was of the Christian Faith. He was a member of American Legion Cherokee Post #35.
