Edmund Albert Ford Jr., 76, of Columbia died Monday, June 2, 1997, at his home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at Missouri United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl Schenck officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.

Mr. Ford was born March 30, 1921, in Blue Springs to Edmund Albert and Mayme Garth Moad Ford.

He married Bernadine Cole on Sept. 4, 1949, in Warrensburg, and she survives.

He was a member of Missouri United Methodist Church. He graduated from Blue Springs High School and Central Methodist College and received a master's degree in education and a doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He served in the 20th Armored Division during World War II. He was principal of Blue Springs High School and later taught speech and drama at University High School. He was a faculty member at Indiana State teachers College in Terre Haute before going to Washington D.C., to be a specialist in secondary education in the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. He served five years with the USAid program in Nigeria. He was director of International Studies and Programs at MU. He also served as associate dean of faculty and assistant provost to chancellor schooling. He retired as associate professor emeritus from the Department of Highre and Adult Education in the College of Education. He spent a year in Pattani, Thailand, as Fulbright professor in the Prince of Songkia University. He was past president of Golden K Kiwanis, a docent emeritus of the Museum of Art and Archaeology and a past guide at the Winston Churchill Memorial in Fulton.
