Mr. Tomlin died Monday, March 26, 2007 in a Tyler hospital. He was born Sept. 30, 1924 in Whitehouse to the late Aubrey Hicks Tomlin and Berta Faye Rawlings Tomlin. He was a lifetime resident of the Troup area.
Mr. Tomlin was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was certified as a sharpshooter and served in Company C of the 280th Engineer Combat Battalion. He served in the Ardennes Rhineland Campaign in Central Europe, where he received the World War II Victory Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the EAME Theater Ribbon and three Bronze Service Stars. He was a member of the Church of God and was a retired bricklayer.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Roy Eugene Tomlin, Sr. and Rosemary Tomlin, Tyler; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Reverend Rayburn and Wilma Tomlin, Troup and Reverend Raymond and Cordelia Tomlin, Weatherford; two sisters, Ruby Zardickas, Caldwell and Reba Williams, Mesquite; four grandchildren and their spouses, Roy E. Tomlin, Jr, and Theressa Tomlin, Troup, Brian and Deborah Tomlin, Bullard, Ashley and Justin Rowe and Amber and Shane Elliott, all of Flint; ten great-grandchildren, Courtney Tomlin, Cheasley Tomlin, Caitlin Tomlin, Billy Tomlin, Regan Tomlin, Amanda Kuechle, Denver Rowe, Reese Rowe, Hunter League, and Addison Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
