"Evelyn" Eveline Alice Digby Baker was born 2 April 1896, Rayleigh, Essex, England, daughter of Thomas Henry Digby and Sarah Marie Mansfield Digby. Her siblings were Janet born 1891, Walter born 1892 and Mildred born 1893.

Although the spelling of Evelyn was commonly used, the proper birth name was Eveline.

Eveline married Charles Baker whom she met while he was serving in WWI. Charles was born in England but had emigrated to Canada about age 14. They were married 19 January 1918 in Orsett, Essex, England and returned to Canada when Charles was discharged from the Army.

Eveline brought beautiful linens with her from England and had great pride in these white linens in spite of first living on a farm with no electricity.

Eveline and Charles had three children: Walter, born 1919, Mildred born 1922, and Edward, born 1934.

Eveline died 20 March 1977 at Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
