Born in Louisiana 6 July 1851, Charles Jasper Oglesby was one of Callahan County's early settlers. He was the son of Charles F. Oglesby and Martha Jane Brinkley. The senior Charles Oglesby died in the Civil War. Charles Jasper moved from Coryell County, Texas to Callahan County Texas in 1876 and within a year was permanently established in the Caddo Peak area. He operated a store and post office and was the Caddo Peak postmaster from 29 Mar. 1882 until the post office closed on 30 Mar. 1907.
