Joseph O. Hill, 92, of Allegheny Township, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008, while in the company of family members at his home. Mr. Hill was born May 7, 1916, in South Buffalo Township, son of the late Ralph A. and Blanche (Beaumont) Hill. He was a member of Freeport United Presbyterian Church Freeport. He was employed as a lab technician at Gulf Research for 20 years, retiring in 1973. He had also worked at Allegheny Ludlum Steel for 17 years prior to Gulf Research. Mr. Hill was a member of the South Buffalo Grange, Armstrong County, Pomona Grange and Pennsylvania State Grange. He enjoyed restoring old tractors, hunting and traveling. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Shirley (Bell) Hill; two daughters, Karen (William) Crawford, of Gretna, La., and Kathleen (William) Sickenberger, of South Buffalo Township; son, Fredrick (Barbara) Hill, of Kingwood, Texas; stepdaughter, Alice (Philip) Brown, of Fredericksburg, Va.; stepson, John Hill, of Tucson, Ariz.; and two brothers, Warren Hill, of New Brighton, and Robert (Fay) Hill, of South Buffalo Township. Joe is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Frances (Brown) Hill; brother, Ralph Hill; sister, Margaret Brothers; grandson, Patrick Crawford; and great-grandson, Joshua Hill. Family and friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Freeport United Presbyterian Church, Freeport, with the Rev. William Mumaw officiating.
