The Town Talk (Alexandria, La.), Sat., Jan. 24, 1903:

At the home of Mr. W.A. Griffin, on Second street, Alexandria, La., on Saturday, Jan. 24, 1903, at 12 M. (sic) o'clock, Jesse Ford Statham, aged about 41 years.

The deceased was born in Pike county, Miss., Feb. 28, 1861, and moved to Pineville in 1882, when quite a young man and was employed in the general mercantile store of Mr. B. Turner, in that city. He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and also took a commercial course at the Bowling Green, Ky., commercial college.

His father was treasurer of Pike county, Miss., for a number of years, and a prominent citizen of that State. Both the father and mother of deceased are dead. He leaves four brothers, viz: Geo. Statham of this parish; John, James and R.Y. Statham of Magnolia Miss., and a sister, Mrs. N.L. Hathorn of this parish.

He married in Pineville, La., Oct. 4, 1887, Miss Missouri, daughter of W.A. Griffin. She died in 1890. One son was born to this union, Master Ford, aged 12 years, who survives his parents.
