Son of John Worthington and Comfort (Worthington) Dorsey
Thomas married Milcah Goodwin on 28 January 1808. They had ten children together (four sons and six daughters), born between 1809 and 1827.
Thomas graduated in 1799 from St John's College in Annapolis, where he Studied Law; and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1803. A Lawyer, a Planter, and a Public Servant. He was a Member of the House of Delegates, Baltimore City, 1807. Served on the Committee of Grievances & Courts of Justice; Committee on Laws to Expire; Committee to Examine Laws of Maryland Regulating the Election of Members of Congress.
He was appointed United States District Attorney for Maryland in 1811-12. Later Thomas was appointed as a member of the State Constitutional Convention in 1815 in Annapolis, Anne Arundel, MD. From 1822-1824 he was the Attorney General of Maryland. Chief Judge, First Judicial District, 1824-1831. Associate Judge, Maryland Court of Appeals, 1824-; Chief Judge, 1848-1851.
In 1826 Thomas was appointed trustee of the University of Maryland, Annapolis, Anne Arundel, MD. Thomas became a Bank Trustee on March 18, 1834 in Baltimore.
Burial in St. John's Churchyard, Ellicott City, Howard County.
