Husband of Martha Mary Cardon and Eliza Lusina Shepard

Marriner Wood Merrill, Jr. was the oldest son of Marriner Wood Merrill and Sarah Ann Atkinson Merrill. He was born in Bountiful, then the family moved to Richmond. He attended schools in Richmond and at Brigham Young College in Logan. At the age of 22 he was appointed Manager of the Richmond Cooperative Mercantile Company and spent the rest of his life managing his father's many businesses. When he was 23 years old he was sustained as Superintendent of the Richmond Sunday School and at the age of 28 he was called to the High Council of Cache Stake in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Martha Mary Cardon in the Salt Lake Endowment House on 11 April 1878 and Elzina Lucina Shepard in the Endowment House on 11 Oct 1880. The two families cheerfully helped each other. Marriner died of an illness on 30 Dec 1899, at the age of 42.
