Salley - Jake Gleaton, 49, of Salley, Route 1, died at 6:05 tonight at his home after an illness of several months. Funeral arrangments will be announced by the Culler Funeral Home of North. Born near Salley, he had lived in that section of Orangeburg County all his life. He was a farmer and a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Jackson Gleaton; five daughters, Mrs. Vera Bell Gartman of Livingston, Mrs. Etta Mae Knotts of Neeses, and Helen, Annette and Barbara Lane Gleaton, all of Salley; and a sister, Mrs. Dolly Chavis of North. © The Times and Democrat, Orangeburg, SC, 12 Dec 1949
