IRMA LOIS FORCE

All of Russell grieved Sunday to learn of the death of Irma Force, only daughter and eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Force. She had been ill but a short time with flu and contracted pneumonia, and her death was a great shock to family and friends alike.

The church could not in any way accomodate the funeral. All of the school was closed in her honor. Her classmates and schoolmates acted as pallbearers and furnished the music. Flowers in great abundance came from friends here and from surrounding communities.

A splendid young lady, youthful, beautiful and deserving of a great future was taken from us in her childhood. It hardly seems right but it is not for us to question the ways of the Allmighty. The entire community deeply sympathizes with the bereaved family.

Irma Lois Force, daughter of Guy E. and Nora Hanks Force, was born in Russell, Iowa, February 8, 1922. Easter Sunday she was stricken with double pneumonia and although given loving care and every medical attention, she passed away at the family home in Russell, April 4, 1937 at the age of 15 years, 1 month and 26 days.

Though her life was brief she has left a shining memory never to be forgotten with all those with whom she came in contact. Her sunny smile, and sweet personality endeared her to all. She was her mothers confidant, her fathers pride, pal and advisor to her four younger brothers. The affectionate regard of the entire student body and the faculty was hers.

Irma was a member of the Sophomore class, keenly interested in all school activities. The week previous to her illness, she spent many studious hours preparing to take part in a debate.

She was a member of the local Campfire and 4H Clubs, also held membership in Junior auxiliary to Rural Letter Carriers. Irma united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Russell, Iowa, in June, 1931 and was a devoted worker in church, Sunday School Epworth League and Queen Esther Society.

She leaves, besides her father and mother, four brothers, Ardis Edward, Paul Eugene, Donald Charles and Wendell Hanks Force, two uncles, Warren and Arlie Hanks of Russell, one aunt, Nellie Hanks of Indianapolis, Indiana, and numerous other relatives and innumerable friends.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church, Tuesday at 2:30 conducted by Rev. J. E. Clark and interment was made in the Russell cemetery.
