He was killed on Tarawa Island during WWII. PVT. Ernest Eugene Tucker was a member of A Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division. He died with many other Marines on the first day of the battle. Ernest was originally buried on Tarawa island and was located in 1979 and returned to his family to be buried here in May 1982.
