Lona and her three sisters and brother were all born in Taylorsville. In 1940 the four sisters were in Atlanta GA. They shared an apartment.
Lona began her work career as a hat maker in an Atlanta millinery shop. Later she was a long distance operator for Southern Bell and retired in that capacity.
She was artistic by nature intrested in crafts, art, and antiques. She decorated everything in site during her "Tole painting" period. She was a person of style and grace, a trait which appears to be genetic.
