News of the sudden death, at 4 o’clock yesterday morning, of Mr. Griffin Kelly, at his home, Spring Hill, Henry County, was received in this city yesterday morning. The deceased was the father of Dr. C. W. Kelly, and the son left at 2:30 o’clock in the afternoon for Henry County. The deceased was a native of Clark County, Ky., He was born in 1808 and would have been seventy-nine years of age next January. He lived in Clark County until he was married, and then removed to Oldham County, where he lived until about twenty years ago, when he went to Henry County to live.
He was a man of wealth and positon and enjoyed the highest respect and esteem of all who knew him. For the past few years he had lived on his Henry County farm, and found recreation in the management of his place. His health had been bad for the last three or four months, but it is thought failure of the heart caused his sudden death.
A meeting of the students of the Louisville Medical College, to the faculty of which his son, Dr. C. W. Kelly, belongs, was held last night, and resolutions of regret and condolence were adopted.
The funeral will take place at 1 o’clock this afternoon in Eminence.
