Inscription: Laura Smith: w. of L. C. : d. Sept. 25, 1843: 23y. 6m. 9d.
Very little is known about who Laura is. She could be Laura Fox of the Dibean index, Wastenaw, however, the death certificate of her son, William Henry Harrison Smith, who died in LaClede County, Lebonon, Missouri, states that his mother is Laura Stark(s).
We found the grave marker still somewhat intact. She is buried next to Phoebe Philo, who was her husband, Luther C. Smith's 2nd wife. The marker is laying down flat and there is a crack through the middle. Information from the marker itself was transcribed by May R. Howlett of Pontiac Mich. A copy of which is located in the Ingham County Library in Mason, Michigan on the 2nd floor in the historical society's area.

Laura may have also had a daughter by the name of Sabra as there is a notation to that effect located in the Library of Michigan: Death Book 1: 108 : Sabra or Sabre died May 10, 1876 and it shows she is the daughter of Luther C. Smith and Laura of Bunker Hill township, Ingham County.

Possible Sister is Caroline. Also born to Laura.
