Funeral Service for Gwendolyn Woods, 61, Cove Point Road, Port Orange, FL, who died July 8, 2008 at Halifax Medical Center, Port Orange, will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Hope Fellowship Church with Pastor Derrick Triplett officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are today (Friday, July 18) at Hope Fellowship Church. Viewing from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church on Saturday. Gwendolyn was born in O'Brien, FL and moved to this area 46 years ago. Mrs. Woods received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bethune Cookman University. She was a special education teacher in Michigan and Georgia before beginning her career with the Volusia County Schools. She later received a Masters and Specialists Degree in Special Education from Nova University. She was a dedicated educator for over 40 years. Mrs. Woods was a member of Hope Fellowship Church. Survivors include her sons, George A. Woods, Jacksonville, FL, Trellis L. Woods, College Park, GA; daughters, Mona Woods-Finney, Dublin, GA, Starr Woods, Port Orange, FL; brother, Burnnett D. Haynes, Ocala, FL; eight grandchildren, Michael-Allen Finney, Laura Finney, Shaheed Yearty, Jessica Woods, Tyuan Woods, Kyla Finney, Jasmine Woods and Sarah Woods.
