Newport, NH: Ernest Joseph Dubuque, age 86, formerly of Maple Street passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Woodlawn Care Center in Newport.

Ernest was born on February 9, 1922 in Claremont, NH to the late Joseph and Marion (Ouellette) Dubuque. He has lived in the Newport area most of his life attending the local schools and graduating with the Towle High School Class of 1940. After High School Ernest joined the Navy and was involved in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign maneuvers during World War II. Upon honorable discharge from the Navy he returned home as a decorated veteran earning several medals for his actions during wartime. Ernest began his employment at Joy Manufacturing and worked there for over 37 years as an assembler tester prior to his retirement in 1984. Ernest was a member of the Newport American Legion Brewster-Gould-Lee-Rollins Post #25, Newport Moose Club, and Newport Senior Center. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and just enjoying any outdoor activities.

Ernest is survived by his daughter Judy Heiser of Newport, NH; 2 sisters: Corinne LaFountain of Newport and Virginia Jarvis and her husband Victor of Ascutney, VT; his grandson Jason Heiser and his wife Darcey of Newport, his Great Granddaughter Sydney Heiser and Great Grandson Hunter Brunt; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ernest was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Corron) Dubuque in 2001; his 3 sisters: Dorothy Bennett, Velma St. Alban and Nora Bowlan; and his brother William Dubuque.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday July 17, 2008 at 1:00 PM at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home at 42 Main Street in Newport. Burial will follow with full Military Honors at the St. Patrick's Cemetery on Summer Street, in Newport. Rev. Father Richard St. Louis will be officiating.

Relatives and friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Thursday July 17, 2008 at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home.

Donations may be made in Ernest's name to the Newport Senior Citizen's Center, 76 South Main Street, Newport NH 03773.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home.
