LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Services for Alta Jean Palmer, 79, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Highland Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Kurt Boggan and Rev. Brock Patterson officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Oakland Cemetery, Russellville, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service, Russellville.
Born on Feb. 22, 1926, in El Reno to Henry and Myrtle Keeling, she died on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bernice Gilbert.

She was a former office manager for Cook's Paint and Varnish Company in Fort Worth and Arlington, Texas, and had lived in Arkansas at the Pleasant Hills Retirement Center for the past four years.

She was a loving mother and dedicated her life to her children and family. She was a member of Highland Valley United Methodist Church and a member of the Skip-Bo Club at her retirement center where she had many friends.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike Palmer, Richardson, Texas; Mark and Debbie Palmer, Celina, Texas; and George and Martha Palmer, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Charley Robertson, Little Rock; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley and Bob McClendon and Millie Stallcup, all of Ardmore; 11 grandchildren, Billy Palmer and his wife, Lisa, Rowlett, Texas; Jon and Austan Palmer, both of Richardson, Texas; Brian and Rachel Palmer, both of Celina; Patty Cortez and Melissa Starling and her husband, Jeremy, all of St. Petersburg; John Cortez and his wife, Lisa, Clearwater, Fla.; J. D. Robertson and his wife, Audrey, Plano, Texas; and Sarah and Casey Thomas, both of Little Rock; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexa and John Matthew Cortez, both of Clearwater; Amanda and Zachary Starling, both of St. Petersburg; and Sidney, Raleigh and Quincy Palmer, all of Rowlett.

Bearers will be Billy, Jon and Brian Palmer, J.D. Robertson, Casey Thomas and Mac Stallcup.
