Sgt. 1st Class David A. Hartman, 41, of Akron, Mich.; was assigned to 401st Transportation Company, Army Reserve, Battle Creek, Mich.; He was killed July 17 when the vehicle he was driving was hit by an improvised explosive device in Bayji, Iraq. David was born to the late William and Virginia (Nutt) Hartman. He currently was in the U.S. Army Reserve assigned to the 401st Transportation Company stationed in Iraq. David was also a veteran of the Gulf War assigned to the 182nd Transportation Company. He was a member of the VFW Post 7486 in Fairgrove and the American Legion Post 7 in Caro. David was employed by Rayl Farms for several years. Surviving family include his wife, Robbin, and his children, Heather and Benjamin; his brother, William (Debbie) Hartman; nephew and nieces, William III, Beth, Amanda and Barbara; and a supportive and loving cousin, Tom Hartman, and family.
