Mary Annice Sprouse Smith, age 86, widow of Carroll Dwight Smith, died Thursday, August 3, 2006 in the St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.

She was born in Mountville and was a daughter of the late Joel and Daisy Sprouse.

Mrs. Smith was retired from Greenwood Mills, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mountville.

Surviving are her son, Franklin D. Smith and wife, Brenda of Joanna; a daughter, Rita Fernandes and husband, Raul of North Dartmouth, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Dr. Jason A. Smith of Kingsport, Tenn., Natalie Jordan, Joel Fernandes and Julie Sylvia of Massachusetts; and eight great-grandchildren, Curt Jordan Jr., Andrew Jordan, Nicholas Fernandes, Ethan Sylvia, Lucas Sylvia, Seth Sylvia, Layla Begin and Alexander Begin.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, August 7, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
