Lynn E. McDonald, 53, of Pateros, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, in the Okanogan-Douglas Hospital in Brewster.

Lynn was born April 6, 1944, the son of J. Ervin and Gladys (Low) McDonald at Wenatchee. They lived in Cashmere, where he excelled in all sports, graduating from Cashmere High School in 1962. Lynn was a quarterback on the football team and he enjoyed playing football. He attended Wenatchee Valley College for a year and continued to play football. He attended the University of Washington for three years.

In 1966, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for four years in the airborne division. In 1973, he began attending Central Washington University and graduated in 1975 with a degree in business administration.

Lynn was employed as an apple salesman for many years, working for NuChief, Wenoka and Magi.

On Dec. 16, 1990, he married Deborah Georgius in Pateros. They first made their home in Cashmere, where he owned and operated a pear orchard up Mission Creek. Later they sold their orchard and moved to Pateros in 1994. Lynn was a member of the Cashmere Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie, at the home; a stepdaughter, Crystal Miller, at home; a brother and his wife, Larry and Marnell McDonald of Cashmere; a sister, Jolene, and her husband, Freeman Moore, of Cashmere; a special family member, Rich Pipkin and his wife, Shannon, and daughter, Nicole, of Cashmere; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.
