Donald Wesley Deckard, age 82, of Bloomington, passed away Saturday evening at the Bloomington Hospital with his daughter and caregiver, Linda, at his side.

Donald Wesley Deckard, "Snuffy," was born on December 13, 1925, and passed away on July 12, 2008. He was born in Monroe County to Ollen and Inez (Hesler) Deckard.

He married the love of his life, Irene L. Hillenberg on June 10th, 1950.

He is survived by three children which were born to this union, Linda Dianne Reeves, Larry Wesley Deckard (Kathy) of Bloomington, Indiana, and Lori Denise Kubricht (Mike) of Sealy, Texas. Also, surviving Donald are six grandchildren, Travis Reeves (Michele) of East Bernard, Texas, Toby Reeves (Deanna) of Bloomington, IN, Tyler Reeves of Owensburg, IN, Lacy Reeves of Sealy, Texas, Adam Deckard and Haley Deckard of Bloomington, IN.

Donald is also survived by six great-granddaughters, Ciara and Indy Reeves of East Bernard, Tx, Cheyenne Reeves of Sealy, Tx, Kennedy Deckard, Shelby and Tessa Reeves all of Bloomington, IN.

One half-brother also survives, Dr. Ronald Deckard (Marge) of Ellettsville, IN.

Sister-in-laws also survive, Helen Stewart, Marie Fleetwood, Vearl Deckard, Minnie Hillenberg Brown, all of Bloomington, IN, and Ruby Fleetwood of Elizabethtown, IN.

Mr. Deckard is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Irene, in 2000 and one grandson, Vincent Michael Deckard in 2004.

Known as "Snuffy," he was employed for more than 45 years at Ralph Rogers and Co., Inc., later to be known as the Rogers Group. He worked as a foreman while keeping his membership in Local 841-International Union of Operating Engineers.

Donald was a member of Masonic Monroe Lodge No. 22, F.&A.M. Bloomington York Rite, The American Legion: Burton Woolery Post No. 18.

Mr. Deckard was a veteran of the Army, serving in Central Europe during the time of 1945-1946.

Donald was raised in both the Baptist and Pentecostal faith.

The funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Stanger officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Gardens. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7:30 P.M.
