Hardy Keeney was a son of Michael Keeney, Sr. of Kentucky. Hardy was the executor of Michael Keeney's estate in Osage County, Missouri.

Hardy married Julia Ann Pattie, second child of Sylvester Pattie and Polly Hubbard in Missouri about 1821.

Hardy Keeney was living near Brush Creek, in the area that is now Rich Fountain in Osage County, Missouri as early as 1819.

After the death of Julia Ann, Hardy moved to Trading Post, Linn County, Kansas Territory. Land deeds indicate that he moved between 21 Nov 1855 and 29 Sep 1857.

On 25 May 1860, Hardy married a widow, Lucinda Davis. The Linn County Marriage record indicates the marriage ceremony occurred at the residence of H.T. Keeny (only record of a middle initial found for Hardy).
